Live to 100 - How Each Vitamin Protects the Body From Disease!

 

First, it's a good idea to look up which diseases are in your family history. Your genes (DNA) may have those diseases passed down to you from your ancestors. Next, you'll learn HERE which vitamins protect your body from that disease. The idea is to keep you from becoming another victim!

On the subject of nutrition, maybe you're from the camp that doesn't believe what you eat is important. It does matter as Natives from the Blue Zones, those remote islands mostly in the Caribbean, have proved. They live to between 90 and 100 years old without vitamin pills. What they eat, that is, the vitamins and minerals IN what they eat...protects them from Heart Disease, Cancer, Alzheimer's, etc. so they all live long lives free of disease! Their food is basic: fish, lamb, goat's milk, green tea, fresh vegetables, and fresh fruit.

You'll see that many of the following vitamins work together to strengthen the immune system. I've also included many of the other benefits of these vitamins such as protecting certain organs, the digestive processes, metabolic functions, etc. Okay, let's look at how each vitamin protects you:

VITAMIN A: Helps the immune system and protects against colds, flu, and infections to kidney, bladder, and lungs. Maintains and repairs all tissue that interacts with air such as the lungs, eyes, and throat.

VITAMIN B COMPLEX: Prevents mental deterioration and helps to maintain the health of the nerves - anti-stress. Converts carbohydrates, fats, and proteins into energy enhance stamina. Helps in fighting infections (note: infection causes most of our diseases including cancer and heart disease). It lowers cholesterol and improves circulation (protecting against heart disease).

VITAMIN C: This is an antioxidant that protects against pollution, protects against cancer, helps combat infection, and strengthens the immune system. It helps with cholesterol control and protects against bruising. Promotes healing of wounds and burns, maintains the growth of teeth, bones, gums, ligaments, and blood vessels, and aids the production of anti-stress hormones. Vitamin C is required for at least 300 metabolic functions in our bodies and works with Vitamin E and beta-carotene to increase the antioxidant effect. Should be taken at least twice daily.

VITAMIN D: This supports bone and tooth formation, muscle and thyroid gland function, and is necessary for processing and use of calcium and phosphorus. Children need this, especially for their bones and teeth development. It regulates the heartbeat and is also important to the immune system. It affects the prevention and treatment of breast and colon cancer, osteoarthritis, and osteoporosis. Note that some drugs can interfere with vitamin D absorption.

VITAMIN E: Extremely important as an antioxidant aiding in the prevention of cancer and cardiovascular disease. Retards aging and helps tissue repair, helps to prevent PMS, and reduces scarring from wounds. It reduces blood pressure, aids in preventing cataracts, and promotes healthy skin and hair. Protects the body from 80 diseases! Long term use helps to reduce smokers' prostate cancer risk. It helps tissue healing and normal cell structure and aids in red blood cell formation. Helps to preserve tissues and along with vitamin C, helps to protect the lungs from air pollution.

What many people don't realize is that all of this is tied to the body's own super-antioxidant, present in EVERY CELL, called Glutathione, the foundation of our immune system.
